My BJJ Story: “Jiu Jitsu Is My Passion And I Won’t Stop Until I Die” by Anonymous

My name is anonymous and I’m presenting my Jiu jitsu story to help others realize that there is always a bright side to things.

It all started back at the end of 4th grade when I was diagnosed with something called Tourette’s syndrome (it’s hard to explain so if you don’t know please search it up). When I was transitioning from 6th grade to 7th grade me and my family moved to Texas and it was very hard because my parents forced me to take a medication I didn’t want to take because a side effect was weight gain, and because they forced me to take it I gained 50 pounds just from the medication. In 7th grade I made many new friends but got teased for bring fat. A funny fact to is I did a trial run for Jiu jitsu at USA martial arts because I had a friend that went there, and I wanted to do Jiu jitsu, but my dad thought it was a waste of money. At the start of 8th grade in 2015 I was excited for a new school year and I just remember one day all the “friends” I had the year before just out of nowhere hated me and to this day I still don’t know why. And I was mad about it because my “friends” started rumors telling the whole grade made up things that I “said” and my whole grade hated me, and I never knew why. After that my “friends” would harass me, follow me and make fun of me. They would make fun of me because I was fat and they mainly made fun of me because of my Tourette’s and my tics. It got bad and then I remember they would come to my house and ding dong ditch and then it became they even would follow me after school. When they started following me after school is when it got bad, I remember all 15 of my “friends” jumped me from behind and just stomped on me and punched me and I was biting and kicking and punching to help myself, but it didn’t work because it was 15 on 1. They did the same thing 4 more times. I vividly remember the 4th time because the one that was the “leader” of the group pulled a knife and was about to try and stab me but a car pulled over and a man ran out and they all ran away, so I don’t if I would be here if it wasn’t for that man (I never told anyone that detail about the knife not even my parents). I would tell the counselors and everything but in their own words they said, “It’s not a major issue and there’s no need to talk to them”. It was when I come home covered in bruises that my dad wanted me to do a martial art and he wanted me to do aikido because of Steven seagull but I knew immediately I wanted to do Jiu jitsu because I loved Royce Gracie.

I begged my dad all summer and then I finally convinced him to let me do the free trial lesson at Gracie gym Plano and he watched me do it and thought it was cool, so he signed the both of us up. I was doing Jiu jitsu for 2 weeks and I learned a few sweeps and some submissions, I went to my neighborhood park and the kid that tried to stab me was there and tried to fight me and I was ecstatic because he was alone, and I wanted to try me knew moves. He went for a straight right hand and I ducked and tackled him down and just started pounding and he was a mess and then he almost got out and I got the triangle and put him to sleep and I haven’t had any problems since. The second I started Jiu jitsu my life has gotten so much better physically and mentally. I also realized about a month into training that Jiu jitsu is my passion and I won’t stop until I die. I have been training for about 1 year and almost 4 months and it has been one of the best years of my life.

When you see me please don’t talk about it with me because its something I don’t like talking about.
